Muddle Headed Comparadun
Some time ago I promised a photo of this fly in another thread, when my new macro kit arrived. Well it has arrived, so here it is. (Problem is I can't remember which thread it should be in, sorry)

This is on a size 12 and has two spinnings making the head. It is a little large but haven't the time before work to tie another with a smaller head. You may also notice the tiniest of green tags. Made by splitting the tail fibres with Fl. Green thread.
Cheers,

Nice fly! I'll bet the fish like it, too!

Very interesting, I think some of our southern Bluegills would think that looks delicious. I think I see some slightly larger versions in the future.

I knew I had seen something somewhere. I was told about this technique years ago by Pete Arfield at the Fly Fishing Shop Bakewell Derbyshire England. Not original but useful.

Yeah, you might've also seen Art Sheck's fat head caddis. Spun deer or elk hair with the hair tilted backwards. Head caught more in a square.

AlanB,
Original or not, that is a wonderfully dressed fly. That head is tightly packed and looks perfect to me. Well done!

To tell you the truth I did it before work today at about 04:30. I would have liked to make a better job of trimming it up but was a bit bleary eyed. Spinning deer hair isn't hard if you know what is really going on. I don't mind the spinning its the trimming up after that gets me. When I have a big order I take them outside to do it. Let the wind take the mess away. Also I have a tiny set of hair trimmers that are on the bottom of a razor handle. They do a great job.
Cheers,
A.
