Trout Lillies...
I paid a visit to my favorite patch of Trout Lillies this evening and found them in full bloom. Probably began a few days ago. This means that the Hendricksons should be hatching during the warm afternoons.
I'll be stoking trout tomorrow and the day after but then I'll start fishing...Not for the stockies but in the special regulations sections of the Cohocton river where wild fish prevail.

They look like Oreole cookies attached to waxed strings with weights at the bottom. they cost $2.69 a piece. A truck load of them will be arriving from Atlanta in th morning ..we need help unloading.
-
I have a batch of them in the garden, not quite ready to bloom. Also called Glacier Lilies. Planted them because I remembered seeing them at the edge of a snow bank in Montana. They are a smallish yellow lily.

Hey Snipe, your in my part of the world. I was down there Saturday but didn't move anything. I went over to the Genny and had about 16 hook-ups. The Hendrickson's have started over there. Not a huge hatch, but they're starting. IT'S SPRING!!!

I went for my walk along the river yesterday and found the Trout Lillies have all wilted away and a little seed pod has replaced the bloom. This means that the Hendricksons are about over with for this season in my neck of the woods.

I was over there on Saturday and hit a moderate hatch, with a few willing risers. There were quite a few spinners and they provided some excellent dry fly action right around dusk. Best dry action of the year so far. Excellent day!

I gave it a try a little below Avoca for an hour before TU meeting Tuesday,2nd but struck out. I was trying for one of the big ones but to no avail. My excuse is that it was a long cast across a moderate flow and into a small eddy where he was stationed. He'll be in there the next time I go. Hope that you like our stram!

That fish has got your name on it. lol.
That's the area i've been targeting lately. Were there any Hendrickson's left? They seemed like they were winding down last week.
I've actually been fishing the Cohocton for quite a few years. She's a beauty. We'll have to hook-up sometime.
