Synthetic wings
Several times we've heard about using the fine fabric called Organza for making wings including unweaving the threads to make spent wings from bunches of fikaments. This does work but I've found something better. If someone else has already noted this please just consider this as a reminder.
I was recently at a florist shop and noted that bouquets were wrapped with a wide, silvry-white ribbon.
This stuff is unbelievable. It is a very fine, tight and simply woven material that has a nice sparkle. It can be folded and cut with scissors to make matched wing pairs. It can be mottled with a waterproof marker. And it can be unwoven(with some difficulty) to make spent wings. One of the best features is that the woven filaments seem to be slightly bonded together to resist unravelling even after being cut to shape with scissors.
I'm surprised that someone hasn't already packaged this stuff for sale. :):)

Perhaps some of us know what it is from a different description or source? Sounds interesting. Are you able to provide a photo?

I see a trip to the florist in my short term future. I could even buy some flowers, and pretend that was the real mission all along (when I get home).

Yea I use it sometime and I find them at any craft shop.

Spouse Management 101:
I went to the flower shop. They gave me 4' of sheer white ribbon stuff to use for caddis wings. What I got was OK. But it could be "sheerer." I'll keep looking.
I also bought flowers for the dinner table. Damn. That was the smartest thing I've done in months.
