Tying vise
I need a decent vise. I have a good HMH at home in Colorado, but spend winters in Fla and I'm using a 50-yr old Herter's vise for my S/W flies. Maybe I oughta just carry the HMH back and forth, but sure as heck I'd forget it.
I'm looking for something that'll hold #4 thru 2/0 S/S hooks reliably and doesn't cost an arm and/or a leg. Even if you don't have one to sell, if you know of a model I can look out for, let me know.
Thanks,

get the regal "knock off"---I would guess that due to the sticker shot with the high end vises--that I bought that vise and have tied hundreds of flies from 10-4/0 with no problems---they are about 30+ dollars on line---good luck

Here's a Danvise on ebay for $68. I am not sure if that is a good price because though I have heard of the brand, I've not actually seen one. But it looks quality.

Thanks for the thoughts. I've seen the Danvises on EBay, but really don't need or want a rotary vise. I'll see if I can spot a Regal-type.

I tie on a Regal Medallion, and if the knock-offs are even half the vise, they'll do the job no problem.

I got a Regal knock off at the first fly show I ever attended (10 years ago) and the vise is still going strong. I tie my larger flies (sz 10 and up) on this vise and for the money I'm pretty well pleased.

Here's a workhorse oldie but goodie. Thompson chrome A vise with Cabela's pedestal base, hackle gauge and material clip included. Everything is tight with very little signs of wear, jaws not chipped and mesh well. $25 shipped L48. If you want it before next spring it would be best to let me know soon. I am leaving next week, be gone for 4 months.
