you're making me hungry with that picture...
Looks good.
Given what I know about wild mushrooms, I'd probably end up dead or sitting in a corner talking with the great bear spirit or something.

I'm with Jeff in the corner.... Been there on accident... Though, I had fun when I realized it was happening... It's amazing when you realize taht you were So completely wrong about what you were eating.
I picked a mother lode of oyster mushrooms the other day. They made for some great pizza
The left overs got blanched and went into the freezer to join the 'hen of the woods' that I picked a few weeks ago
A 25 pounder !
Given what I know about wild mushrooms, I'd let someone else eat them and watch them for a reaction. I don't appreciate the taste of mushrooms anyway.

Rainbowchaser,
Don't do too much shrooming since I left the U.P. of Michigan. Hunted the wily morel mostly. My dad has his secret spots for getting hen-of-of-the-woods shrooms, so I get some off of him. I'll have to get one of those GPS tracking collars for dogs and hide it in my dads shroom huntin bag so I can get a bead on his hot spot! LOL!!!

Ahhh...we call those "Sheep's Head" around here. Tasty table fare, though, to be honest, I usually leave finding/harvesting them to someone else. I don't know enough about them to feel confident eating my selection, so, to answer the question "what do you do with your wild mushrooms?", my answer would have to be similar to my fishing...Catch, Photo, Release. :)
I very much agree that mushrooms are one of those foods you either like or you don't. In some cases it is the reluctance to trust whether or not you believe a particular shroom is indeed edible. I have enjoyed every edible shroom I've made for myself or someone else made for me. I actually find myself getting irritated when I forget to try mushrooms more often. There are so many dishes that can be enhanced by the addition of mushrooms. I think there's a state - no , federal law against making any kinda pasta without mushrooms!! Back me up here chefs! LOL!!!
