Out of curiosity, what would be the total cost to stock a pond with say, 400 brookies?
How about 500 browns?
What ere the advantages of stocking browns over brookies?

dont know the cost...but if you stock brookies...you need to very wary of overpopulation if the spawning grounds are too good. I have seen way too many lakes/ponds where the largest brookie is about 8 inches http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/frown.gif. Browns have less of a problem with that. If the fish cant spawn very well or not at all then its a toss up as to which is better.

Take care everyone and cya around. Mark
Its a lake and they die in the summer anyway. I was just wondering if browns have better sporting qualities like size, weight, or fight.
Browns will survive in warmer water than other trout species.

It depends.
How much does a permit to do that cost in your state? No permit, do it yourself, the fine could be a little steep, not to mention the legal fees.
How big are the fish? The bigger the fish, the more it costs. Figure a couple dollars a fish for catchable size fish, at a minimum. Fry are much less, but then you wait a year or two for them to get big enough to catch. And you have to FEED them.
What is your source? State hatchery, private hatchery?
I would call your county extension agent, followed by your state fish and game agency, before you get too involved in this. They can tell you what you need to know, and how to do it, and what it will cost you. And recommend suitable fish for your pond, as well.
No im not doing any stocking. SOme guy from my city stocks it every years an i was wondering if brown trout are better for fishing purposes
In my opionion, not being a scientist,
Brookies are easier to fool than browns
Browns can live in warmer waters than Brookies
Browns feed more at night and Brookies more in the daytime.
Fight wise, I see no difference.
