We may be spending the winter there - any fishing recommendations?
hehe....there's dry creek, dust creek, and dirt river. ;)
Personnally, I like to go in the summer up on the Mogollon Rim for lake fishing but the freeze over in the winter. This may be of benefit.

There's a little lake down by Fort Huachuca, near Sierra Vista, I think they stock it with trout. Also there is Patagonia Lake down by Patagonia, which is surprisingly pretty country. Don't know what it holds, but lots of people fish it.
Check out the AZflyand tie forum and you can get an idea and talk to others on what Arizona has to offer
There is Parker Canyon Lake near Sierra Vista as mentioned above, Rose something lake up on mount lemon, but it may be closed for the winter. Sabino Canyon in the winter might be a decent place to fish for small trout, but I never had a chance to give it a try. The mogollon rim is nice in the spring/summer but pretty chilly in the winter time. If its a mild winter you could give some of the creeks/lakes up there a try. The creek running through Sedona should be ok in winter I think. Patagonia and some of the other lakes to the south of tucson towards nogales should be ok too. I know they stock the Salt river outside of Phoenix and I have had fun fishing there. I fished it new years day and it was beautiful out. It has a decent population of bass and carp as well. It's definitely bigger water than a lot of what you find in Arizona. Hope it this helps. You'll end up having to drive a little to get to most of these places.

I have a friend in Mesa who treated his dad to a trip to the X Diamond. It may be too high and cold for the months you are there but it's really pretty country with a couple of streams. The owner is a second or third generation Arizonan whose family has been the area since the early days of statehood or before.
