adjustable loop knot
I was reading bite tippet to fly knot and saw bonefishwhisperer using an adjustable loop. Two or three years ago I posted an adjustable loop knot on another site and was wondering if it was the same knot. It's a small easy to tie adjustable loop size knot. It's the first time I've see that some one might be using it. It wasn't a 100% knot until this winter my son purchased some sufix ice magic in 2 lb test. He tried a loop knot and the line broke first. We tried two more times and the line broke each time. Pictures are included.
When finishing knot pull on tag and standing part keeping the loops the same size until reaching the desired loop size. Then pull on hook and standing part to tighten.

The knot shown in the photos appears similar a non slip mono loop knot with only one half turn around the standing line and the tag put through the middle of the overhand instead of between the side overhand and where the tag end first passes through. I just tested it some 12lb mono that really tests about 15lbs (most mono lines understate their actual breaking strength. Under a steady pull the knot broke at about 7lbs of pressure. A quick jerk easily broke it without leaving a mark on my hand where I wrapped the standing line around so I could pull. This seems to make it much weaker than the knot illustrated in the other thread.
