care of equiptment

I am going to the beach Edisot Island in SC to be exact next week and was going to take my 8wt to fish the beach in the morning and some channels in the late evenings. What do I need to do for my equiptment after I finish fishing for the day. I know that I need to wash the reel and rod off but what else. Also what size tippet do you guys recommend?

On the tippet, nothing smaller than 4x. On care, take your rod and reel in the shower with you at the end of the day. You could pull some line off the reel and let it lie around on the shower floor, then after you've "rinsed' the reel under the running water, reel it back up and wipe off the rod with a washcloth. That's it.
