My first rod is done!!!
Just finished building my first fly rod, and it was a blast doing it. It's a 4 piece, 7-weight Forecast RX-6 that I picked up at Cabela's. The rest of the components are from Hook & Hackle. The reel seat is rosewood, and the guides are SIC.
A friend from our fly club helped me plan and build it. I asked everybody questions when I was planning the rod, including folks here on the board, and Ron from H&H. I really appreciate everyone's advice and support. Can't wait to get it on the water.

Nicely done!!! I so want to build one, but seeing everyone finished results makes me doubt that mine would look that good!

CJ,
FIRST rod?!? That's great work for a first build! Love the colors, too...

That's much better than my first build. Good job.

Really nice work, now you need to find an excuse to build another!

I already have an excuse. There is a gap at the 6-weight class. Then maybe a 2-weight on the end. Then . . .
I hate to say it, but I think I'm hooked again.;-)

Great job cklenske, that's a real nice effort for a first time build.
Raiderhunter, just do it and know that all you have to do is ask here and you'll get step by step
help and that way you'll do fine plus from then on you'll know just what to do.
Cheers,
