What is the difference between the red and the green "tin" - especially in regard to using with furled leaders?
The green is with silicon the red doesn't have silicon. I don't use furl leaders, so I don't know how it would relate there. I do prefure the silicon mucilin. I find it keeps the fly floating longer.

I stated in an earlier post that I had picked up some Mucilin for my furled leader (Unithread) use. I had NOT mentioned that mine is the green tin. I couldn't remember what was different with the red tin. When folks kept mentioning "red tin", I started thinking the mucilin I bought may not work.

The Red Tin is what we silk fishermen use on our lines.

As Ray said, red mucilin is for silk lines and also thread furled leaders. Green mucilin (with silicone) is for dry flies.
I only use the red mucilin on my furled leaders.
