I have a possible day off on Wednesday the 22nd, and was wondering if anyone has been out there recently and if its fishable what with the heavy rain and snowmelt we've had lately... I heard it was quite high a couple of weeks ago... Maybe the tribs nearby in the watershed?
I was there Wednesday. The water which usually is mid thigh deep was up to within inces of the tops of my chest waders. Thats a good 2 feet above normal. Water was flying over the spillway too. Where I usually see fish this time I saw none.
The average flow is under 100 cfm. This last week it was over 1,000.
This site is below the Quabbin outlet but it gives you a good idea of whats going on.

I would not recommend taking the trip right now. Sorry.

Thanks Jed, I was hoping to try some moving water, this cold snap has put skim ice on alot of the local trout ponds. I'll have to check out the Cape- the ocean air might be enough to keep the bigger ponds (like Cliff)open... Thanks for saving me a long ride for nothing. Regards, Jim

Sadly there is not a river around here that is not blown out. It hardly allows for any deent fishing. I just have to keep myself content with buying fishing stuff instead.
