I am going to be in the Boston, MA area on April 21st heading to Freeport, ME and would like to get some local knowledge of where to fish that day on my way to Maine. I could fly into Portland, ME if fishing is closer and better this time of year. I would like to fish for trout on a running stream no lakes please and no salt either, Thanks, Drewfly

April is very early, as I'm sure you know. I'm with Ron, asking Mike is a great idea (although his shop is closed until Feb 14th). The Shawmut stretch of the Kennebec is open, but you know how those spring water level can be.
I'm far enough north of both Freeport and Portland to be unfamiliar with the fishing in that area. Calling Beans couldn't hurt, too.
If you go to Beans, and need a place to eat, both Grittys and the Jamison Tavern are pretty neat. And just off the freeway in Yarmouth (between Portland and Freeport) the Delorme Company is a neat stop - they make those indispensible state atlases and sell all kinds of maps.

The Kittery Trading Post has a pretty good composite weekly fishing report on their website. The geographic scope of the report is pretty much from Providence, RI up to to Grand Lake Stream. The way this winter is going, you may be able to hook into some stripahs particularly if you like the early season schoolies.
