scott s3-any good??????
Hi guys
is this the same rod as the superply?
The superply got rave reviews but I havent really heard much about the s3.
How does it compare with Sage and Winston rods?
I need a rod to be able to cast streamers as well as small wet flies. My local retailer is selling a 6 weight cheap, is this my rod?
Thanks in advance.

That is a good rod for what you want to do with it. Have you cast it? It's probably more of a full flexing rod than the Sage XP, and a little more stout than a GLX. It's capable of throwing the whole line.
I borrowed that rod for 8 several times and was happy with it.

I have a different opinion. I might like the s3 in an 8, but in 4,5, and 6, they're just too damn stiff. I LOVE fast rods, but I just couldn't feel those things bend with their assigned line weight. Who knows, you might like it. Might also work well for sinking lines, I didn't try that.
Just cast it before you buy it.
Normally I love Scott's, I own more of them than any others, just not that series for a trout rod.

Thanks for your input guys. I'll break the habit of a lifetime and ask for a test-cast.
