Looking for a good home for extra tying material

Remodeling the workshop has forced me to take a good hard look at how much tying material I collected over the past 25 years.
I've got more than I could use in a few lifetimes.
So, sometime in the next several week the stock pile is getting thinned.
I know there is alot of fur and hair and maybe some hackles/thread

I'll probably try to sell some just because.
I was always taught to "do a good turn daily" so I'm looking to donate a bunch of it to some deserving causes. I'm thinking if there is someone out there working with returning vets. who could use it. or if you are working with youth(boy Scouts 4H Boys club etc.) any other worthy cause.

Good on you. You might see if there is a local Project Healing Waters in your area. They are some of the folks working with returning Vets.

I made a donation of some tools and materials last week and they were truley grateful for anything.

Our local Lynchburg Fly Fishing Club is going to be working with the disabled vets at the Murfreesboro, TN Veterans Hospital starting in 2 weeks. Jack Hise, Tom Roberts ("Doublewide" on FAOL) and myself assisted with a benefit for Partner's In Healing about a month ago and we asked our club to assist us with helping this group more. I am a veteran and want to do someting to help others and since I have been teaching a Beginner's Fly Tying class for the last 13 years, I thought maybe I could teach disabled vets. The Murfreesboro Veterans hospital even has a lake on their property that we could have the vets fish using their own tied flies. A meeting was made this morning at 9am to meet with the administration at the vets hospital and they said they would be interested in maybe having a 2 week tying class for those interested and then 1 week of a casting class and then taking the disabled vets to the lake to fish. Project Healing Waters will furnish some tying kits and fly rods for us to use for the training. I am really looking forward to this and hope that I can help these deserving vets learn to tie their own flies.

It sounds like you have a few great causes up to consider already, but it is just a thought.

Well, I've gotten an overwhelming response to this post.
I just heard from my Regional PHW person and they would be happy to get some material.
There have been so many requests that I don't think I have that much stuff.
I have contacted several of the posters and will honor their requests also.

Thanks for all the ideas. I probably shouldn't be the one smiling but i've got grin from ear to ear and a tear in my eye. The thought of some Vet smiling at the fly he just tied using some stuff I gave makes me a happy camper. It's the least I can do for those who served.
