Scott Fibertouch Rods
Has anyone tried or currently use one of the Scott Fibertouch (F-Series) rods? I recently picked up the new Scott catalog and had never noticed them before (I guess they were listed with the old G's previously). I had been wanting a Scott G, but I don't like the new reel seats/hardware on the G2's.
Since I seem to be leaning more toward slower and slower rods, the Scott Fibertouch seems like a natural progression to me. I'm mainly interested in the F703/3 (7' 3wt). Also, if anyone can compare the feel/action of this to that of the Diamondglass rods, that may help. Any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jake

I too am a fan of the glass rods. Some of the more recent rods are a blend of glass and graphite. I am not an expert on these, but I do enjoy fishing with glass.
I suggest you check out the vintage tackle suppliers and their respective web pages. A lot of glass rods and opinions find their way to those pages.
Clarks Rods was the best site for this info, but its gone, along with the replacement site. Maybe someone else who visits here can tell us more?
If I recall, the general consensus was that the earlier versions of the Scott glass rods were slower than the new ones. I have a few old glass Fenwicks, Cortlands, Eagle Claws, and some others. I also have a new Diamondglass 7.5' 3 wt. I enjoy them all, but the Diamondglass is far and above the best tool for the job. It's flat out awesome. I have been told that it fares well when compared to the more expensive Scott, but opinions are just opinions...
I dont mind that there is a mix of glass and graphite in this fly rod. The rod is nice and slow, yet crisp and delicate enough to roll over a dry fly with ease. I can easily cast this rod as far as my Fenwick 755, yet it gives me the advantage of using a lighter line. Hope this helps.

It's only a bad cast if it spooks the trout...
