Yes some of us fish the Huron River for smallmouth bass and love it!
I have a buddy of mine I am teaching how to fly fish for trout right now and he and I are looking forward to bass season. The Huron is a great bass river!

I usually fish the Willow up here in Huron co. Do pretty good there along with a few places along the lake.
below foote dam is fun.
I will take a day and float from alcona this year cause I have heard there are some big smallmouth in that stretch.

I'll be going on a 5 day float trip for smallies this summer in PA...what sorts of flies do you guys use to catch them? I'm planning on tying lots of clousers, zonkers, and woolly buggers, but would love to hear extra input.
Your flies are fine but I would add a few near and on the surface. Streamers for near and poppers, gurglers, divers for on the surface.
Smallie hits on the surface are a blast.
I use my own streamer pattern and wooley buggers to good success. Hitting eagle bay for the opener.
Me too-I fish the Huron River for them. There are plenty of rivers & lakes here that have fine smallie Fishing including the Great lakes. I've have some evenings in summer catching them on dry flies.
I sometimes fish the Willow in Huron city! Anyone get up to the thumb to fish, i see a few guy's flyfishing in Eagle bay but not a lot.
