I don't think I can draw any hard conclusions from this data But I do see a trend. Lic. sales peaked both res and non in 99 about the same time as the economy peaked. and has slid from there.In the same time frame hunting lic. sale is up slitly
ALTHOUGH JR. lic. sales is off a bit in hunting it is WAY off in fishing I would be very intrested in real #'s from some of the other states. During the time of the study I did,the population in Idaho increased about 20%.

Thanks for the numbers. My basic interest was in the numbers of non-resident licenses sold.I may have read them with a personal slant, but to me I think the numbers say that for "Out of Staters" it's becoming a wealthy man's sport. Due, I believe to the needs of the local fisheries, and the higher price of gasoline for non locals to make the long distance trip. I for one have had to give up fishing Idaho in 2005, and I live right next door in Washington.
It's just the way it is. Any ideas on what we can do to help? (At least the fisheries?)

Joe I think you are right on with the Non res #'s they peaked about when the economy did. I think they will come back if things change there. What is intreating to me is that Res. kids #'s are WAY OFF 15k at it's peak and 10k now.
This all came from another string (is FFing a dieing sport) It would be hard to say for sure long term.But I think it is easy to see why the flyshops are dieing right and left now.

The big spike in one day stamps was two seasons later.
