Upper Sac, N. CA
Well I had a good day Friday...got out before 1p, stayed till around 5p and hooked 4 'bows up to about 18", all on Joe V's gift of orange stimulators, rod was a Fenwick 5wt 2pc 8.5 ', gift from a friend on the RR here, the reel was a gift from a woodcutting friend here, the furled leader was a gift from our own 'Backcastwards', the backing came with the reel, the line was one of the 7wt Green Mt. from Orvis that I bought a year ago.
I put the combo together to honor those friends that thought to give to another and will fish it all the while I'm here.
Did sheetrock yesterday and was getting in the car to go to the lake to try for smallies....same outfit....and the RR bud's call came and he had to jet to the yo at K. Falls.
I'll be here till around the 3rd so anyone close is welcome to get in touch for a day on the water. Been wet wading and not bad south of me but under the dam is a bit nippy and I spend most time walking, taking potshots at easy runs with gravel bars or very shallow. not bad though, day temp today will go 70+ again...
Cheers,

I've fished that area from Shasta to Whiskey and some creeks and ponds with a nephew who lives in Redding. Hope you visit Castle Crags while you're there. Jim

Crags
Well I usually stay pretty close to the house....did good today above Dunsmuir...several different places. Do you mention the Crags for any particular reason? I've been there a number of times over the years including truckin' over the hill to Weaverville that way. Fun drive.

Just mentioned it as a place to visit and an access to the Sacramento river above and below Castella on the frontage road. Good luck up there. Jim

Frontage road
Oh, ok...by the old wrecking yard...I've fished around there a couple of times. Thanks Jim, I'm havin' a great time up here. Let me know when you might come up. The river is open year round now of course.

I left Dunsmuir on Thursday morning! I guess we missed each other again Moose. Darn, one of these days we'll get it right.

Gettin' it right...
Well dang ! Yep, one of these days....I'll be here till about the 3rd unless it threatens a bunch of snow. Got trout yesterday in Duns...stopped by Ted Fay's Fly Shop...having a great time in spite of sheetrock, yardwork and painting etc.
Next time Rich...shoot me a pm ahead of time...I'm
free to move about the country !

P.S. We both missed a 'boo
event in Dunsmuir, F, S & S
and I fished right through it,
