good day
this thursday, my brother had his 12th birthday and as a birthday present, i took him fishing saturday in a little pond across the road. he was very excited as we were using the canoe this time and not just fishing from shore. because he is not a fly fisher (i know, a shame right?) he was using a PTN i tied and a bobber from a lightweight spinning tackle setup. the gills and crappies were hitting sub-surface and this was just what they were looking for. the bobber made commotion on the water then they saw food passing through their midst. he caught 3 gills and 2 crappie all no larger than 5 in HOWEVER he had lots of fun with his first fishes of the season. to top it off we went just before dusk so it was cooling off with a nice breeze. just before we started heading back, two Kingfishers (the first of which my brother has ever seen) chirpped their way across the pond. it was a beautiful trip and a wonderful present my brother enjoyed.

It's great that you're enjoying time with your little brother. My "little brother" turns 55 tomorrow, and, as luck would have it, we've spent most of our adult lives at least two time zones apart. I almost regret all those times when we were kids that I thumped him on top the head! :D

Sounds like a great time.
Maybe now you've convinced him that flies are right way to go.....put a long rod in his hands!
