micro reel?
I saw this the other day, and thought it might make a decent little "micro" fly reel at only 1.6 oz. Anyone seen this in person and have opinions? I know, it's only $5 and I'll get what I pay for. :)

Only question I'd have is the retrieve direction.
It's a decently made reel. I've handled them in the past, but as a reel on a crappie pole, and didn't make the leap for fly fishing.
If it will retrieve in the correct direction for you, then it should make a fine ultralight fly reel.
Nice thing about BassPro, if you order it and it's not waht you wanted, you can send it back....

Has a 5 star rating, all 5 reviews are pretty good. Can't really go wrong for 5 bucks either. It's pretty:)

I just had a thought! It would match the "concept" rod I'm building:

what size fly line would fit on that?

I'm not sure. It only says it holds 230 yds of 8 lb test. If I was using that one, it would be on a 2 weight at the most, I guess. Hard to say without actually getting one in your hands.

Ol' Blue,
I've got a friend that works at the BassPro in Phoenix.
He's going to check one out, if they have one, for me re the retrieve direction.
I'll let you know.

Looks interesting I think I will go tomorrow and pick one up just to check it out. John

I broke down and ordered one just to try out. For 5 dollars, it's worth a try.
