This is a pattern I tied after David Martin?s octopus.
Sofia, one of my daughters asked me to tye an octopus as a present for her. She asked me to do it without a hook inside, so I tied this one on piano wire.
I hope you like it.

Andres,
Your flies are absolutely beautiful! More a work of art than a usable fly, I would imagine (I know if I had one, it'd never see the waters!!).
One question about the octopus ... well, maybe two ... how big is it, and is it flexible?
Sure do wish you were closer, and I could just sit and watch!
Betty
Hello Betty,
Thanks a lot.
LOL,LOL, of course they are not flies to fish with. When I found "Realistic Fly tyer" I started tying realistic flies to fish with them; a hopper, a stonefly, some beetles.. . But I was so impressed by some realistic tyings that I had to try.
The octopus is 7 cm (sorry for metrical meassure) from one tentacle end to the opposite, and 2,5 cm tall.
It is not flexible as it is tied on piano wire, then foam and the skin make it hard.

Incredible!!!! Thank you!
Betty,
You used the word I was going to use. That octopus is really incredible. That's the only word that seems to fit.
REE
geez...make one of those lifesize and youd be able to get me out of the water in a second...
Hello DDRRedneck500, Ron, Betty, Thank you
Andr?s
Sorry, Andres, but this last, super gorgeous, realistic fly of yours has forever killed my idea of re-visiting Spain!! All I can now picture, is that old Science Fiction movie, where the nuclear reactor leaked and all the insects around it, once contaminated, grew to 1000 times their natural size and devoured everything in their paths, as they "ate their way, (in people, dogs and cows), across America".
Spain, has a reactor, YOU have the real looking insects! "Tied or not" it's too risky!!
But, keep it up, anyway. Your work is not merely "INCREDIBLE" I think, it's also
ASTOUNDING!!
Hello Flybinder,
Thank you very much!
Something similar to that film happened years ago. But a politician took a bath, wearing something like a parachute. He is still alive, nothing changed, at least externally LOL,LOL (Palomares leak)
Anyway, you can be quiet, this is a tropical octopus and the Weather Change is not so clear yet.
I send a new pic. I would like to send bigger pics but if it is possible I don?t know how.
One more thing, it is not a fly as it is not tied on a hook; materials and techniques are the same but no hook in it.
Andres, you're more than welcome. And, the fact that the "wire" you tied this one on, "Isn't bent into a "J" and pointed on one end, with a circle in the other", DOESN'T distract from your obvious talents and skills!
I'm quite sure, had your little girl not wanted this particular piece of art, for herself, you would have just as easily, tied it ON a hook, no?
