What thread is used to make clear raps on rod?
There is no such thing as truly clear wraps UNLESS you don't use thread - and YES that is possible. However, threadless wraps are not for anyone not well experienced in rodcrafting.
For highly translucent wraps, you can use white silk OR regular nylon that is a shade or two lighter than the blank color and then use NO color protect. This way the finish soaks into the thread allowing the underlying color to dominate the visual perception. Be sure to properly prep, and recolor if necessary, the guide feet since they WILL show through the finished wraps.

Gene, you can use white silk thread for a all but completly translucent wrap, and after some practice they will becme translucent to the point that the only way you can teel there is thread there is that you can see the bump.

SteveP,
Great tutorial! Thanks for passing it along. Best Regards...
Well, you may not be able to make them "perfectly" clear, but you can achieve a finished wrap that will let you count the natural lines of the bamboo beneath them. White silk and a really good varnish will give you some spectacular results. That tutorial is excellent and is followed by many folks that want to get that look
