8 wts... opinions please?
So lets' hear about 8 weights...specifically these four:
(all for sale gently "used", 9 footers, 2 are four piece... the db and winston are three)
and within a few $$$ of each except teh winston which is a chunk more.
1. diamondback aeroflex
2. St Croix LU
3. T&T Horizon (this one is a bit older...but well cared for).
4. Winston LT
I am not a big fan of the super fast rods and have a more "relaxed" stroke borne of the old glass rods....
cheers,
P
Re: 8 wts... opinions please?
They seem a lot alike,,, perhaps the actual weight might be the deciding factor. The lighter the better. Or;;; the 'prettiest' one ! Really...
Re: 8 wts... opinions please?
I don't use eights much. I have a Sage 8 and an Orvis 9 that I use on the salt but they are just too heavy for someone older and with added metal neck parts like me to throw all day. Biggest fresh water rod I use is a 9 1/2 foot seven I use on steelhead. So I can't help much. I do like my Sage though. FLi. Couldn't afford a Z.
Godspeed,
Bob Bolton
Re: 8 wts... opinions please?
All good makers...Especially the T&T and Winny's...I think any of them would serve you well...I'd personally go with what has the softest tip...Or what most term as softest Flex...Most rods these days are to..stiff.
So I guess I'm saying Winston!

I like green but would settle for blue green.

Re: 8 wts... opinions please?
BIIX is an outstanding rod. Lightweight and strong.
My opinion is Winston for an 8w. The BIIMX is coming out shortly. You might want to check on that.
You also might want to look into a Gatti also.
