SAGE WARRANTY
At the Idaho fish-in I managed to snap a Sage FLI, two piece, nine footer about half way up the handle end of the rod. I was able to stand in the middle of the Selway, mouth agape, as about two thirds of this beautiful 5wt. headed down river to cruise the Locksha. I have absolutely no clue as to why this happened. The good news is that the Sage warranty covers the rod even if it is owned by a dummy. My new rod is here after a zero hassle handling by the good folks at Sage. I know that this is the way it's supposed to work, but when it actually happens it just feels to good to not share. :D

Re: SAGE WARRANTY
I have been hearing great things about the Sage Warranty, I think before I buy my 4wt I am going to have to save all my pennies and make it a Sage.

Re: SAGE WARRANTY
And this is the reason to spend a little extra in the first place. We might all gripe and complain about the high price of some of these rods, but when we're the ones getting a BRAND NEW one in the mail just because we asked, it kind makes it worth it. I've known at least 2 of my buddies that had the same experience with Sage. Except one of them closed the tip in the tail gate. Even though it was obviously his fault, they still sent a new one for free!

Re: SAGE WARRANTY
Papa Elf,
Over the years I have managed to break more than a few Sage rods, and I have always had a very good experience with them regarding replacement. I live close enough to Bainbridge Island, home of Sage and Redington that I am able to drive over there and pick up a replacement on the spot. One time they did not have a replacement so they kept the rod and built me a new tip section. They are a great company.
I also have a few Redington rods and one broke. When I took it to the company they gave me a replacement on the spot. Hard to beat.

Re: SAGE WARRANTY
On the topic of warranties, I sent in my Scott G about 3 weeks ago. They rebuilt a tip section from scratch and returned the original tip which had a nick in it but had not broken yet for the $25 shipping/handling fee. The new tip looks just like the old even though they are not selling the original G over here anymore. If that wasn't enough, they sent me emails every other day updating me on the rods progress, one day telling me that they had the first coat on it and it would be getting the second coat the next day assuming no problems. I told them I had a trip coming up so they overnighted the rod to me at no extra cost. I have never been more impressed with a company in my life.

Re: SAGE WARRANTY
Great replies all.
Remember too, that it never hurts to write them back to let them know how much the service is appreciated.
Just sayin....

Re: SAGE WARRANTY
Believe me, I let them know how much I appreciated it, and also told them I would tell others. That is why I posted. :D
