Fly Fishing near Summersville, West Virginia
I am heading to West Virginia next weekend to see my brother-in-law who moved there recently. We will be staying in Summersville. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to fish in the Summersville area, hike-in preferably? I have looked at some fishing websites for WV and it appears the Elk and Gauley rivers are possibilities. It looks like there could be some really good trout and smallie water near where we are staying.
Thanks in advance.
Dustin
Re: Fly Fishing near Summersville, West Virginia
Dustin,
My wife is from WV and while I'm not experienced up there I do know that there are several people in the area who are trying their best to make it into a sportsman's paradise. When we drove up in July we stopped at the visitor's center along I-77 in Princeton and I saw several brochures for fishing in the state. there are small mouth bass and trout in the area.
You might check with the state Dept. of tourism.

Thanks Rusty. Never caught a smallie on the long rod, hopefully will tangle with one or twenty.
