Good idea, Betty....I'm not a rod builder but it gives me an idea for aligning golf shafts 8)
Betty,
Great Idea! Thanks and Best Regards....
In my opinion,, this is the only way to line up the guides. I started doing it with the lazer level a couple of rods ago and it works great. I just couldn't get the guides to line up right using the old eye-ball method. The guides always seemed to creep a little.
I think it takes a little longer using the lazer; however, I keep removing the rod from the wrapper and checking each guide -- even after marking the location of the feet on the blank.
Good post.
I'm no rod builder but...once you have them all aligned (dead n_ts) and you need them to stay put, anyone ever use a tiny drop of CA (Superlue) instead of a strip of masking tape to hold them whilst wrapping?
Just wondering? Like I said, I'm not a rod maker.
Jeremy.
I have not applied super glue; however, I believe in the Al Campbell series on rod building, he used a small drop of super glue. I don't know why you couldn't .
I'm not fast enough to use super glue! Goodness only knows what the guides would line up like!! Orthodontic elastics work good for me.
Even Renzetti thinks the laser alignment is a nifty trick. http://www.renzetti.com/product.php?...cat=281&page=1
The renzetti device is nice. I use a simple lazer level from sears. Less than $20.00
While I'm FAR from an expert on rods or glue; I would be leery of using Super Glue, (CA) because of the white residue it can leave when it cures. I don't know but it could mess up a nice wrap job.Quote:
