Has anyone had any experience with an Outcast pac 1300 or 14
posted on westfly but didn't get many takers so maybe you all can help.
Hopefully I will be moving to The Oregon, Idaho, or Washington area within the next couple of years and was looking at drift boats to kind of see what my options are. I was thinking of purchasing one a little sooner and using on places a little closer to my current residence like the San Juan (I live in AZ). Anyway I was curious if anyone has ever used the pac 1400 or 1300 made by outcast. I know outcast makes quality boats and this seems like a cheaper alternative to a regular style drift boat. I also work in the fishing industry so would probably be able to get the boat for a discounted price making it an even better deal. Anyway I was just wondering if you guys had any comments on these boats as far as pro's and con's go. Thanks ahead of time.

Some of the guides at Crows Nest Angler in southern Alberta have these rafts. We floated several days on both the 1400 and 1300. The 1400 is only one foot longer and 4 inches wider, but seems a lot bigger. The 1400 is roomy and comfortable. The 1300 seemed cramped for space to me; especially the foot and leg room in the rear was very tight.
Good quality construction and no splash up front around the self-bailing bottom like in some rafts. It woud be the 1400 for me.

Be sure to look at north fork pontoons. Dave Scadden has been designing some pretty nice boats with some very nice features.

I don't own one but I've had a few float trips on the 1400 and I liked it from that perspective. It was confortable for both sitting and standing. I stood up for most of the time. It was also reasonably easy to get in and out of. We always had three on board when we went and it could clear some pretty shallow water. I can give you the name of the fellow who runs that raft around here. He's been running float trips from it for a few years now. I'm sure he can tell you about the good points and the pitfalls.
The fellows name is Mike Verhouf http://www.flyfitters.ca/. mike@flyfitters.ca Just tell him Deb sent you. Ask soon though...as he will get very busy with the next rain.
