Need advice for Central Minnesota
I'll be in Central Minnesota from Sept. 14th through 23rd. We're staying at Breezy Point resort north of Brainerd. Can anybody give me some intel on the area? I know the Crow Wing is close, but I don't know much else. Any advise on where to fish, what to fish for, and what to tie on the end of my line would be really welcome.
Thanks in advance!

Fishing?!? On your HONEYMOON?!?!? Good grief!!!
Re: Need advice for Central Minnesota
There is alot of good WW fishing in that area. Pelican lake has a host of species, the upper Mississipi is known for its Smallies, and many other lakes in the area. Water with fish is not hard to find. Right now is Muskie season but the panfish are really starting to come around also.
Re: Need advice for Central Minnesota
The upper mississippi is awesome smallie water. You can access it at numerous places, including crow wing state park. Crow wing river itself holds a decent number of smallies as well. A good spot would be the last mile or so of the crow wing river before it runs into the mississippi. Have fun.

My favorite smallie flies:
chartreuse wooley bugger - size 4
yellow cork slider with chartreuse marabou tail
chartreuse over white clouser minnow
brown wooley bugger - size 4
Re: Need advice for Central Minnesota
Try either white or gray foam poppers #10 8089
flashdancers #6
clousers #6-#1
simple crawfish patterns #6
You won't need anything else
