Heading to Kamchatka Russia in 9 days! Report in sept. I've never been on a trip like this and have a question. Do any of you check your rods or do you carry them on during flights? Thanks, CFISHER

Carry them!!! Don't let them out of your sight. If the airline will let you carry them on, then do it. You can fish without your clothes, you can't without your rods. My brother checked a rod once and it got lost, it rolled off of the conveyor and wasn't found until someone actually got under it to do some maintenance.
Personally I haven't had any problems taking even my reels or flies on carry on, but it's been a while since I've travelled by air.
Enjoy your trip.

I just flew to Europe and I carried my rod and 2 reels on with me. There is no way I would check that stuff. Never had a problem carrying it on for either domestic or international flights. Even carried on a 2 piece bamboo with no problems.
