Hackle Gauge for Danvise?
Not having any experience with other vises, but having read that the Danvise has a different diameter shaft, I wondered what hackle gauge do you fellow Danvise users have? I have looked at a couple, and the description says "fits most vises". I think it is time to get a little more picky with my hackle sizes, and a hackle gauge purchase is in order.
Re: Hackle Gauge for Danvise?
i dont have a danvise, but.
i have a griffin hook and hackle gauge, it works like a charm.
the hole should be wide enough for the danvise.
if its not then you could always bore out the hole with a drill.
its only 5.95$
also whiting makes just a hackle gauge out of aluminum, that is 20.00$ im not sure of its hole measurement.
Re: Hackle Gauge for Danvise?
If money is no object; live large & get the Whiting. It is REALLY nice; comes in different colors and has alternating light and dark markings; great design.
Even if it doesn't fit; it's a nice gauge.
Re: Hackle Gauge for Danvise?
if money is an object, put a hook in the vise and use it as a hackle gage. 1 1/2 - 2 times the gape.
:D :D
Re: Hackle Gauge for Danvise?
The Griffin fits, it's just a smidge tight, but isn't a problem
Re: Hackle Gauge for Danvise?
I've got a Griffin on mine....fits loosely
Re: Hackle Gauge for Danvise?
Thanks everyone. I am travelling nest week to a town where there is an actual brick and mortar flyshop, so I will have a look at what is available. I might even take the shaft off my vise and try a few on for size. :D
