Moms Pond
http://myfishingpics.com/photopost48...edium/Camp.jpg
The pond idea has been one I've had in the dream works for many
years and now, it is becoming reality. It is to be a Camp Named;
"Happy Hearts on Mom's Pond." ? alis aquilae; on eagles wings,
It is for my Son, Michael
My hi-hopes are for My Son and I to introduce fly fishing,
coupled with stream ecology to the young at heart.
Planting the seed! Just because...
Exploring the outdoors will be the camps "feature adventure".
Friends and Foe's alike will be invited to opening day on Moms Pond.
The dam will be complete and Mom's Pond will be stocked with about
fifty farm raised rainbows out from the Moccasin Creek Hatchery about
15 minutes round the bend.
As you almost see in the photo Cabin No.1 is under construction.
Within No.1 the plan is to have a bug tank, tying bench,
wood carving tools, bunks, and lots and lots of goodies!
Also in Cabin No.1's bunk room there is to be a "secret escape hatch"
in the floor going down into the woods of Plum Creek.
Why? Just because...
There is plenty of clear ground round the pond for campgrounds,
and a nice big fire pit to share fire side stories.
Story Telling will be a part of the Happy Hearts home front.
Our old truck, aka; Harvey will be the Camps Icon.
The "River of Thanks" will now become part of Happy Hearts Soul.
See link below; "River of Thanks to Our Troops"
Opening day of Moms Pond is planned for the last Saturday of
April ?2010 First person to catch a Heart Tagged Trout out of
Moms Pond, gets to light Cabin No.1's very first campfire.
Might be just for a short weekend but it will be a
great start to many warm"Happy Hearts" to come.
Happy Hearts is a not done for dollar adventure,
it has a much greater calling, its called fun,

Re: Moms Pond
Now that is cool!! 8) My hat goes off to you and I'm incredibly jealous. To be a part of something like that is simply...honorble. One question: How did you choose the name 'Mom's Pond?'

Re: Moms Pond
Awesome! Steve, you are the man! :D

Re: Moms Pond
WildOne and Eric,
Thanks for your kind words,
1st off, Eric, you are the man! Always have been always will!
River of Thanks to you!
WildOne, Honorable, well Eric fits that billing much more than I. But I surely do thank you again for your kind words.
The Mom's Pond name is after my wifes Mom Beverly, and of course my Sons Mom My very own Lovely Wife Susan, and my dear Mother Mary whom I recentlly lost at her age of 97!
Moms do so much for us all ... so this pond will also serve as a small tribute to everyones Mom!
Happy Hearts and Kind Regards

Re: Moms Pond
I updated the original post images to include photos of the camp flag,
as well as a special photo taken in Yosemite that really inspired
me to start the Happy Hearts camp project.
Also started building some rods that will serve the young
and young at heart as starter rods to catch fish out of the pond.
They will work for flys as well as yes worms.
I was able to get some bamboo from the local
craft store that will work well for pond rods.
Once I get the first rod built I will post some photos.
Camp is moving along slow but steady!

Re: Moms Pond
Clyde,
Thanks, you are welcome anytime....
Another thought to share;
Just maybe one day approval could be had with our VA for Happy Hearts to be a listed camp for those of our troops in need during rehab and certainllly long after. :)
Take care!

Re: Moms Pond
Steve,
If you haven't done so yet get in touch with your local VFW. They are very god at getting things like that done.
