Cool progress pics!
I've got a little 2wt that is nearing completion, just need a couple coats of epoxy on the wraps and it'll be good to go I hope.
I know a spot where a mess of 8" bluegills hang out, the perfect spot to christen my first rodbuilding project.
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the sharing pictures. I really enjoyed watching your progress. I would like to share my experience in obtaining a #2 weight brim rod but it wouldn't be nearly as interesting. You would see a picture of me looking at the Cabela's catalog, writing Cabela's a check, waiting for the UPS man, opening the Cabela's package, and assembling the outfit. Your stuff is definitely better. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif 8T

You had better learn to be a happy camper. You only get one try at this campground and it's a real short camping season.
Hey tws,
Grand pics and NICE job. Just one little question.....do you always put your reel on backwards? http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif

Lee, I think this photo should shed some light on your question... http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/biggrin.gif

thanks for the compliments all.
Lee...
yes, i guess it is on backwards... but i'm right handed and have always gotten reels with the left hand retrieve... that is, i prefer never to swap the rod from one hand to the other in order to retreive... habit from my beganning days fishing.
btw, i'm just learning to cast, about 4 months now. I love this little 3 wt. can get light bead head flies out to 45' pretty easy. Also, my accuracy is getting better. I've yet to perfect a haul and haven't even started on my roll cast yet...
happy angling!

Have you looked at the CCS numbers on that thing? You should be able to cast a 3wt line a mile with it. There are four 863-4 FTs in the CCS database and their ERNs are 6.89, 7.15, 7.28, and 5.2 (http://www.superbob.org/CC_Data.htm). All of the FT series tests out like that. I'm getting ready to build a 907-4 FT that has an ERN of 10.3. That ain't no small stream or spring creek rod.
