JC, in all of your articles, do you have anything on the condition of the line and its impact on casting? I read quite a few of the articles in the archives but more is always better. Thanks

CG36,
I dress my lines after the day out as well as at noon. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif
Only takes a few seconds with the right stuff.
In my capacity as a caster, maybe it doesn't REALLY make a difference, but I'm positive it helps my lines last longer.

Evening Chris,
I do the same. I use Line Speed by Loon. Seems to work really well for me.
As far as my earlier comment, I just saw an open door chance to pick on our wonderful JCmeister. An oportunity I couldn't resist. lol

The line cleaner in your hand is NOT considered cheating - but maybe it is considered brighter than the average bear?
Also have a friend who is registered here,
Rich Ward, who cleans his line constantly when fishing lakes/ponds etc. says the build-up of stuff really cuts down on the casting ability. I also suspect it might make your line sink faster too (talking floating lines here.)

HUH???
I think I've lost the thread...
????
I carry a Umpqua Line Dressing Applicator (the little green box in the image):

The water here is yellow, ... not gin clear and the grit and grime plays heck on lines.
I'll usually load it up with Glide.

JC,
I don't have any SA lines, but I've seen anglers using those pads, ... So what's the skinny, ... Why does one need to scrub an SA line while we get away with just dressing other lines ??

JC,
Works for me too, ... I guess I was wondering if it took off a tiny layer of the line coating to get down to "clean" skin.
That would mean the pad is to "lift out" the dirt.
Thanx
