The River of Doubt: Theodore Roosevelt's Darkest Journey by Candice Millard. Lots of Amazonian natural history along with a good story on Teddy's last major trip into the wilderness. Might make a great Christmas present. JGW

The stories and facts are true. I guarantee you won't be able to put one of these books down once you start to read it.

Erick I too enjoyed reading Mr. Eckert's books but found them somewhat unbelievable. Very little investigation showed that he has a poor reputation among serious historians. They still make a good read but you may want to be careful about citing what you find in them as factual.
