Vote No
Deanna,
I believe the initiative in question is I-933, not 333. Apparently there is some question, as well, whether it actually allows the option of a variance instead of payment. Either way, it seems to be very poorly written and would go a long way toward undermining any kind of meaningful land use policies. One need only "follow the money" to see who the real beneficiaries of this effort would be. The major funder is a big-time developer from Illinois. More than 80% of the suits filed under Oregon's similar initiative have been brought, not by farmers and small property owners, but by (you guessed it) developers.

Thanks for the catch Preston...I dug out the newspaper and made the corrections. Again folks, please check the initiatives and ballot topics out before you vote...and do VOTE. He who doesn't vote doesn't get to complain about how the issues (and races) come out.

In Michigan we will vote to see if we can continue to hunt doves. I know a lot of states have a dove season. I don't hunt doves nor want to, but I am a hunter and believe if this is outlawed it is just a step to the next level. No trapping season. No deer hunting, and fishing? "Hooks harm fish!" Out law fishing. You get the picture? Why some orginations want to outlaw cattle farming and chicken farming. Lets all eat spinach. I will be voting NO. Jonezee

Thanks for the tremendous public service, LF. I remember a recent presidential election, where some of us had gone to a local bar for dinner while awaiting the election results. While we were waiting for our burgers the barmaid looked back from the early results on the television and said, "Ralph Nader? Who the hell is he?" And she was among the minority who voted. Good grief! On one of his rants on 60 Minutes, Andy Rooney pleaded with people who didn't care enough to learn about the issues not to vote. You and Rooney are both saying the same thing. JGW
