JC's "Why Me?"
Hi JC,
I enjoyed your article this week. I think we have
all been there one time or another. We go out and
do everything so well it invokes a sense of pride
about our skills and yet the fish are totally
oblivious to our most heartfelt efforts to entice
them to our offerings. Some days you just can't
buy a strike no matter what and then the proverbial
tow haired kid stumbles along and skips a few rocks
across the water before throwing a cricket on a
bobber out to the same seam you just fished and
proceeds to pull in an obvious offspring of
Moby himself.*G* No way your going to impress that
youngster with your prowess with the long rod. You
can only hope that one day he walks in your shoes
and learns humility the hard way.*G* Warm regards,
Jim

:( Um, well, maybe not ALL of us. :(

Hey Swen,
If not a day, then perhaps a cast that put a grin of
total satisfaction on your mug.*G* Same thing, just
less of it.*G* Warm regards, Jim

JC,
It happens to us all. Not a fly fishing story but it proves the point...My Dad many years ago was trolling for tarpon off of the Louisiana coast. Tarpon were rolling everywhere but he could not get a strike. Hours upon hours he trolled...NADA!
A float plane landed, two anglers got out on the pontoons...put out their lines and trolled from the plane. They laneded three tarpon all within sight of my Dad!
The questions then remains...Did you have fun?
Keepeth thine chin uppeth!

My brother in-law looks like a windshield wiper while fishing. No haul, no nothing from the book, but that guy catches da fish. Try to teach him casting....forget it, he doesn't feel he needs the help.
Just goes to show.....that's why they call it fishing and not catching.
I am sure you have all had that cast that was Soooooo perfect, but .....nothing. Then slap the fly out there (by accident or even frustration) and BAM!

"FG...now you know that this is the ONLY way I can catch a fish...wakes up and lets them know dinner is here...like on the ranch ringing the trianle on the porch....
