Don't drive sleepy
Pretty amazing photos..
One very lucky kid. God was definitely looking out for him.
north of Deer Lodge on I-90. The driver was appx 22 year old guy heading east to College. He had left central Washington early in the morning. He fell asleep at the wheel and drifted off the shoulder hitting the end of the section of guard rail.
The guard rail came through the right headlight, engine compartment, firewall, glove box, passenger seat, rear seat and exited out the driver's side rear window. That is 120 LF of guard rail that threaded through the suburban.
No passengers and the driver was not injured.
I am sharing this as a reminder to all about NOT driving when you shouldn't be behind the wheel (drinking, texting, distracted or just plain tired).

Reminds of a trip I took to NY state. My friend's dad drove a group of us to the Ausable near Lake Placid for a day of fishing. Everybody fell asleep on the drive home--including the driver. It was a winding road that cut through small rolling hills. I woke up slightly, and groggily noticed that the car was starting to cross the center line.
I started to say something to the driver, but we went off the road where it curved and drove up a hill at high speed. Everyone woke up flying through the air with tree branches scraping the windows. The car landed on the other side of the hill and rammed into a tree trunk. Miraculously, nobody was hurt. We were lucky the car was airborne, because there was a narrow spot that would have probably flipped the car upside down onto the median.
It's a good idea for the passengers to stay awake. Don't hesitate to say something to the driver if you notice the car beginning to veer off course.

Couple of years ago the wife, my daughter and two grandkids were coming home from the zoo and had a similar episode. We were fortunate to just trash a Grand Cherokee and everybody walked with a few cuts and bumps. Very good PSA!
