European version of the Crow family. Black bird. Just Google the word Jackdaw and you can even see images of the bird. I would anticipate that he was using a body feather, and any black body feather should work just fine. If you want the real thing you might have to contact someone from 'across the pond' but the feathers may not be able to be imported into the USA. [Comments by The Chronicler]

Thank you, LF!! The particular fly I want to produce calls for the pretty little (way little) gray scalp feathers. I did google the bird and certainly wish we had crows that looked like that here! I have sent a message to an English shop in the hopes they will/can sell to me.
Thank you, again!
Hugs!
WHOA!!!! Thank you, Scott!! I will call them first thing in the morning! <feet doing happy dance!>
Thanks John for providing a source for Betty.
Some neat materials on that site, Scott!
It might not be of any help but the jackdaw scalp feather is indistinguishable from the moorhen wing covert feather. Many North Country flies that call for one can be dressed with either.
Here they are a pest. There is probably one or two in my back garden now trying to steal food put out for song birds. The old trick of filling half a coconut shell and hanging it upside down doesn't work. They lift it by the string and empty it. Will have to find some kind of jackdaw proof feeder. (Or put mustard on the string).
Cheers,
A.

And more coming in this weekend! BIG order (hooks, wool, skins, etc) planning and will order on Monday when the rest can be "viewed". Don't even want to think what it'll cost me! And, I don't even care!!!!
