Here in CT 14 is a BIG supher. Ours run 16-18.
Maybe a 16 then...I am still not sure becuase on the hatch chart there are some that say 12-14 then some that say 16 and down...

Size 16 is the most common size. I would also have a few of 14 and 18 sizes as well.

If I was coming to the Roscoe fish-in I would make certain I had a good supply of caddis patterns for that time of year. Sulphurs will surely catch fish, but you can never go wrong with caddis on the Beaverkill or Willow.

The only reason I am asking is becuase someone offered me some free Whiting 100s and wanna know what size to get...

stonefly,
Okay, given the reason you wanted to know (Whiting 100s), I'll offer this insofar as the sulphurs:
I'd have size 14, 16 & 18. I've been told by an excellent tyer that the Whiting 100 packs are labeled a little smaller then their actual size. Therefore, I'd get a package that was labeled 16 or 16/18. Also, some people like sulphurs tied with very light ginger and some with light dun.
How's that for adding to your confusion.

LOL Allan...at least you did not get involved with my other topic about hackle on the tying board LOL...to make it more complex I would be using them for parachute Sulphurs. I usually would not buy these except I have to exchange something through the mail and the shop said they would cover the shipping charges with materials or whatever I wanted...should I go with something a little less complicated http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/biggrin.gif
