There are video tapes around of the Gadabout Gaddis Flying Fisherman show as well as American Sportsman. Look for them on eBay. One of the American Sportsman episodes featuring Lee Wulff and Curt Gowdy going after big brook trout in Labrador is also available in the Lee Wulff Outdoor Classics series of videos. (see [url=http://www.weekend-sportsman.com/Video_pages/details/item_0-WULFF-025-0.html:75637]http://www.weekend-sportsman.com/Video_pages/details/item_0-WULFF-025-0.html[/url:75637] )
Email me if you need more info.
Danbo,
You are really dating yourself!!...Why, I'm MUCH too young to remember this Sky King fella, or Songbird, or niece Penny, or the fact she was a cute little blond! http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/wink.gif

Here ya go old fellers:
Now they make new movies in old black and white
With happy endings, where nobody fights
So if you find yourself in that nostalgic rage
Honey, jump right up and show your age
Chorus:
I wish I had a pencil thin mustache
The "Boston Blackie" kind
A two toned Ricky Ricardo jacket
And an autographed picture of Andy Devine
I remember bein' buck-toothed and skinny
Writin' fan letters to Sky's niece Penny
Oh I wish I had a pencil thin mustache
Then I could solve some mysteries too
Then it's Bandstand, Disneyland, growin' up fast
Drinkin' on a fake I.D.
Yeah, and Rama of the jungle was everyone's Bawana
But only jazz musicians were smokin' marijuana
Yeah, I wish I had a pencil thin mustache
Then I could solve some mysteries too
Then it's flat top, dirty bop, coppin' a feel
Grubbin' on the livin' room floor (so sore)
Yeah, they send you off to college, try to gain a little knowledge,
But all you want to do is learn how to score
Yeah, but now I'm gettin' old, don't wear underwear
I don't go to church and I don't cut my hair
But I can go to movies and see it all there
Just the way that it used to be
Chorus:
That's why I wish I had a pencil thin mustache
The "Boston Blackie" kind
A two-toned Ricky Ricardo jacket
And an autographed picture of Andy Devine
Oh, I could be anyone I wanted to be
Maybe suave Errol Flynn or the Sheik of Araby
If I only had a pencil thin mustache
Then I could do some cruisin' too
Coda:
Yeah, Bryl-cream, a little dab'll do yah
Oh, I could do some cruisin' too
Gadabout will live in my heart and share every adventure with me. I NEVER missed a show and cherish My first fly rod, it was a gadabout. I still have it and one of my boys enjoys catching trout, bass and gills on it.
When my time comes I hope I'm blessed to share a stream or lake with him and all the other greats that have passed on.
Philip
I still have my collection of Gadabout Gaddis lures and spoons, great but fading memories.
I remember Penny using the propwash from Skykings Beech D18 as a hair drier, back then I lusted for the D18 more than Penny. Over the years I had my fair share of blonds but I wish I had a vintage D18 in the back yard, heck at this point I would settle for a J3 and a brunette... FB.
Ok you old folks, seeing that you are in a nostalgic mood, who remembers Flash Gordon, The Green Lantern, Gene Autry, The Cisco Kid, Paladin, The Lone Ranger, not to mention Howdy Doody and Captain Kangaroo. I do remember the majority of these were on the tube on Saturdays along with Gadabout Gaddis and Scuttlebut lodge. And I saw them all.....lol
