I do about the same thing Allan outlines except I take some red & brown rabbit blended then start adding small amounts to a gray base rabbit or muskrat, start blending till I get the wine/claret color desired.
Also the Angora Goat claret is great substitute and can find that anywhere :)

Claret or Wine, if you prefer is a very popular colour for dubbing and hackles
over on this side of the pond. Unless you are determined to buy USA,
try some of our suppliers in the UK.
There is a very nice claret dubbing by SLF which I am sure is available over there.
Flyrite introduced a color specifically called CLARET a while back .:D
As Donald pointed out, just look for "wine" colored rabbit. Wapsi makes it, so look for shops that carry their brand.
Fritz - let me look when I get home I bought a hugh lot of different dubbings on ebay 2 years ago and I'll check and see if there's any in there.
Appreciate the offer Fatman. However, another kind FAOer sent me some. Thank you. Have a safe holiday
Give Joe at Dette Trout Flies he sells the appropriate wool for for blending the dubbing. He also has the correct dubbing in packs.
