Brings back some fond memories.....Thanks BB
They're still on the air. Our cabel service provides the "Western Channel", all westerns, all the time. Old TV favorites, Have Gun-Will Travel, Gunsmoke, wagon train, etc make for a great afternoon, and the old, as well as new movies are entertaining. Love the old 50 shot six-shooters. Just saw John Wayne in one of his early movies as a singing cowboy.

Thanks BB, for Christmas my wife bought me a set of 12 double sided DVD's with 150 TV westerns on them. I haven't even skimmed them good yet. There are some pretty obscure series included that I do not remember, including "The Adventures of Champion"; "Cowboy G Men"; "Sergeant Preston of the Yukon"; "The Adventures of Jim Bowie" and several others I did not remember but great fun to nourish the 12 year old inside me again. Now if the 53 year old can make the 12 yr. old behave, it's a challenge somedays.
Watching that brought back memories. It's also interesting to look at the dates - wonder what happened to some that they passed away so young.
I remember ''Sgt Preston of The Yukon'', my Mom and little sister had a bad crush on him. My Dad and I liked ''Rifleman'' and ''Bounty Hunter''. Those full auto Winchesters were also fun. ''Shotgun Slade" was a poor show but had a very good jazz soundtrack.
those guys are way before my time!! ;)
Favorite Cowboy beyond any doubt is "The Duke" John Wayne. Favorite Western TV series "The Big Valley" Linda Evans, hubba, hubba-ah! Really miss Michael Landon, Ben Johnson, Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans.
Anybody have one of those Roy Rodgers outfits as a kid like I did? Wish I still had it as they are worth a bit of money now but the sentimental value is priceless.
BB,
Thanks for the memories. THEY were great and commanded our undivided youthful enjoyment. I still watch "The Rifleman" two episodes daily, even foregoing "The O'Reilly Factor" till it's second go-around.

That was great. I probably remembered about 95%. I just finished watching both "True Grits" back to back. Jeff Bridges plays an excellent Rooster Cogburn, and the new True Grit is put together much better than the original. That being said, nobody does it like John Wayne. The original, even with Glen Campbell, is far and away my favorite version.
