Seems as though somebody got tired of their [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pac%C3%BA:bf453]pacu[/url:bf453] and dropped it in the lake.

And I thought South Florida had some strange fish http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/biggrin.gif.

I agree with Robin....it looks like a Pacu. It is actually not all that unusual to find a Pacu because they are often discarded by their aquarium owners. They grow so fast and so large that most small aquariums simply are not big enough to hold them. I'm studing a couple of Pacu in a small micro pond for possible introduction into a large pond for weed control. They are voracious eaters, rapid growers and reportedly taste excellent. They are cold water intolerant also.
hi Meadowlark,
Then this fish must have been a recent dump? No way that it could have wintered over in Lubbbock I would not think.

Texas has winter???
Hummm who'd have thunk it! http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/biggrin.gif
just enough winter to keep the bugs killed back some and the tilapia and peacock bass from wintering over. Oh, and we get to drop trout
