Tomah Joe
A friend's daughter, working at a pet shop, gave me some macaw feathers that were shed by the bird along time ago.
Finally got to use them along with some barred wood duck.
Tail, yellow macaw. Tag, Peacock herl. Body, silver mylar. Wing, barred wood duck flank. Beard, red and yellow macaw.
Please ignore repeat of this post! I'm 87 or will be June 16 and my brain doesn't work that well anymore.

Beautiful tie of one of my favorite patterns! I love tying the lake fly version with a matched pair of full barred woodduck feathers as the wing.

Thanks Alberto, I'd like to see one of your lake fly versions

oldster,
Here is a Tomah Joe lake fly I tied a few years ago:

It's tied on a Lee Schecter blind eye hook, size 4, if I remember correctly. I did not have any twisted gut for the snell so I just used monofilament. That's a regret I have because I like the proportions of the fly.

Alberto

Very nice Alberto!
Thanks Norm! I'm wading very carefully with a staff. Can still cast as well I ever could.

Nicely done wings on both flies; barred woodduck has always been a challenge for me.

Scott
