i own one, no complaints here except the vice is a bit bulky. Don't worry about it being delrin. Delrin is one of the strongest plastics. This makes the vice very light weight. any other questions feel free to PM me

Rich,
I have one & love it. I posted this before, but here is a link to vise reviews...the Danvise is highly thought of:

You can get them at this FAOL sponsor:

I started with one and sold it this year because I bought a new vise in December. I like it and got good use from it. I almost didn't sell it because I thought of keeping it for a 2nd vise, but someone I like wanted one so I sold it to him.
For the money it's a really good vise IMHO!

The Danvise has been praised about 1,000 times on this and other boards. On distinct advantage is that the jaws close parallel so there is no sweet spot, it is all sweet. The cam operation puts quite an amount of pressure on the hook, don't overdo it. Mine is at least 5 years old and has made about 2,000 flies and is still going like new.
Here is another link that you will find useful. http://flyfisherman.com/ftb/hwvise/
They are a good vise for the money, I had one before I upgraded. The delrin is very strong, but the vise is not sturdy, they flex a bit. If you can tolerate that then they are good.
I have used mine for 6-7 years. For the money it is the best vise under $100.00. The Danvise is a great vise.

Thank you all for the responses.
Couple questions:
I primarily tie size 16 and smaller flies. any problem with small hooks and the jaws? (i think i read where Hans W. said access is a bit tight also)
I also read somewhere else about a couple of these vises "blowing up" ?????
A fella on ebay is selling them for $65 plus shipping , good deal?.
Thanks, Rich
Smaller the fly, the harder the Danvise is to tie with, in my opinion. The way the vise head is designed makes it particularly hard to tail smaller flies. Some say the extension solves this problem but that's another $20.
The qualifier you always hear about these vises is that they are good vises "for the money." There are better vises out there, they just cost more...
I have a Dan vise. I tie flies down to size 26 on it. It works okay on the smaller sizes. At times I want more clearance but I manage to tie them without a lot of difficulty.
Taking the vise over to friends houses to tie some times leads to a little bit of an inconvenience. It is a clamp on vise base so you need a type of table edge that it can grip. Some tables do not hold it real secure. General there is a work around you come up with when you visit some one else. My best work around is to take a TV tray stand with me.
I enjoy tying on it.
When ever you go to a fly tying event you will see several people tying on it.
