http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214 ... ies098.jpg This is my first pike ever. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214 ... ies100.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214 ... ies102.jpg this was the biggest one caught on the trip, i had one that brought me to my backing 2 times, but i ended up loosing it :( http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w214 ... ies108.jpg
This is the area that we were fishing.
We caught the pike at talibut lake in jasper alberta, canada. we saw about 3 pike over 10 pounds, any hints would be greatly appreciated.

Re: my pike trip!
JZ,
Nice fish, beautiful scenery... sounds like a great trip. I guess your new Orvis 8wt did the job.
Good luck in Alaska!

Re: my pike trip!
JZ,
The scenery alone would have made that trip for me. I have yet to get my 1st pike on a fly. Maybe early next spring, which is when they hit here in Ohio...just after "ice out". I'll NEVER match the surroundings here though.
What type flies were you using?

Re: my pike trip!
you have prompted some memories from the past when I was you age and I stalked pike with a fervor that was like fire. I love how that strike the bait and t hat pull is delightful. THey don't always fight to match their size, but when they do there is nothing like it. I wrote a story about this - I just might share it .

Re: my pike trip!
JZ,
I'm happy for you that you had a great experience fishing for pike! :D
Is that lake cloudy with vegetation or glacial melt??
Thanks for the photos!
