Pontoon Rod Holder
I really got this idea from Jim Flamming.
I sloted a 1 1/2" PVC pipe on my table saw (it's 2 pc. because I couldn't get a 10' pc. in the car)

It's notched to hold the reel in place with a cap to keep the rod from sliding out

It's attached to the 'toon frame with wire bundle ties in 2 places

I had a run in with a sunken log that broke one of the wire ties but the rod survived!

Re: Pontoon Rod Holder
Yeah, I definitely like the idea of "saving my rods" from the many obstacles that we encounter on the water. I spent a day fishing a couple weeks ago and it was real windy. Entering the boat ramp area, you have to 'weave' between posts in the water. I ended up grazing one post with BOTH rods! OUCH! These rod holders you make would have prevented that. I think that by next spring, I will have a pair ready to go!

Re: Pontoon Rod Holder
Yeah, that's why we let him in and why we keep him around, he's a darned useful fellow to have around. I guess that it could be that engineering thing... ;)
BTW, he makes a pretty good fishing companion as well.
