Idaho tiers
I will be giving a fly tying demo for a couple hours at Roger's "Portneuf River Outfitters" in Pocatello, Saturday morning December 8th
I will be showing some special bunny leeches and marabou leeches, some Carp getters, Chironomids, and Nymph Jigs...plus more.
Love to see ya.

I wouldn't miss it, except for the 750 mile roundtrip.
If Tom Banyas or any of the other regulars from Jimmy's show up, please extend my greetings and best wishes for the Holiday Season.
Thanks much.

It's even a bit further from Moscow, Idaho but I hope you'll consider tying at NIFFE in the spring. It's a great opportunity to see a lot of great tiers in one place.

Growing up in Glenn's Ferry, I know where Lewiston is and it is beautiful, but that is a heck of a trip for Utahan's. I will be at the Idaho Falls show as I have been.
Here are my nymph Jigs

Liking that idea a lot, Joni. 3X long hooks with a beadhead and 90D bend ??

Actual Jig hooks for fly fishing. Small about the size of a #10 nymph hook. I did buy some 90 hooks and thought about adding a split shot to make some.

My recollection is that Tom was doing something like that 6-7 years ago. When Jimmy would get some of those jig hooks in the store, Tom would raid the new inventory, and got most of it.
Tom was a real inspiration - one of the more creative guys that worked / tied at Jimmy's. He introduced me to furled extended bodies, and the rest is history.
Another novel thing he did, but I never found out about the actual fishing results, was building cripple and emerger patterns on oddly twisted hook shanks. Really interesting flies.

Jig nymphs like that can be killer! How fun are those biots to tie on those Princes?
-
Terrible, but they are on on normal prince for me...LOL On another board, they tied them up with the wing case and everything on the other side. They said it didn't matter. I think it does matter or why do it. Maybe the wings and cases don't need to be there, but I can't help but think it makes a difference. No on the other side it appears upside down. Maybe it doesn't make a difference, I don't know as I have always done them this way. Great for Ice Fishing according to my brother in-law.
