we always used our handsor dip net for smelt. mm mm good
I've taken plenty of smelt with a net, but I'm giving them a try through the ice this year. Some guys are just moving towards the simple bait fish sabiki rigs, but didn't know if anyone on here had any killer set ups. I'll probably just use some scud hooks and tie a simple bead head with some neon thread and krystal flash. You usually end up baiting the hooks anyway. I heard some guys jigged about 200 for a 6 hour tide the other day according to the ice fishing forum anyway.
